I put mine on the lock latch itself. I have a 2nd gen with cable locks, not sure about the first gens. If you do a search you should be able to find all the info you need. Good luck.

I have attached a picture of the location of my actuator. I have installed power door locks on every vehicle I have owned. The actuator that I used on my 99 is a 5 wire actuator which allows for all of the doors to be locked with a key or by locking one door. I've also got this system connected to an aftermarket keyless entry.

Have at it

Installed a car alarm from e-bay that included door solenoids, The sole reason for the alarm was to have keyless entry so all I wired up was the alarm module the siren and the door locks. Total investment maybe $100. The hardest job was hiding the wires and fishing the alarm wire through the firewall. The Lock and Unlock Circuits were tricky to figure out because the alarm module used 3 wires to open and close. 2 of the three wires were I think a positive trigger, but it could be a ground trigger I suppose. the installation of the solenoids took a little thinking but nothing lock and unlock circuits. Don’t be afraid it's not rocket science.

I'm 99.999% sure my schematic is good. if not it was free... http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/a...1&d=1195514955

Energizing the trigger will connect door solenoid to a certain polarity. The other trigger will energize it to the reverse polarity. Hence open and close. Most door solenoids act this way even ones with 3 or more wires. They still only use 2 wires to open or close.
