Question peew

so ive noticed a few times after drivin my truck i smell a nasty smell, kinda like burnt clutch or hot breaks, im not sure what else it could be, i have an automatic so i wouldnt think that would be the smell because although they have clutchpacks its in with fluid, any ideas?

im pretty sure its a torque converter for the automatics. very few production cars have a clutch in an automatic (the new GT-R for example, i have no idea how it works myself but I hear there are clutches in the sequential gearbox) there wouldn't happen to be any leaks or anything? are your fluids looking OK? this is all I can think about right now. oh, that and the time my friend tried to start off in 4th gear because he saw Jeremy Clarkson start off a new Z06 in 5th and made it to 170+mph before running out of track... that smelled really damn bad. it didn't go away for a long time either.

i've noticed a smell a couple times. It's very rare and I just chalked it up as something in the air or just typical truck smell.

yes there is a tourqe converter, but in the acutal transmision there are clutch packs installed( the wearing down of these clutches is what turns your a/t fluid darker) so far all the fluids seem to be good, im thinking its the brakes maybe ther are cheapies on it, its a distinct smell of some kind of material like clutch or breakpad burning

gear oil smells like farts, and the vent is right by the shifter, but you are 2wd, and auto, so it wouldn't make any sense why that would be the cause.

Thats pretty funny...

Does the smell occur with the A/C on or off? Cuz my dad's 95 pathfinder had that smell for a while and it was his belt tensioner pully melting....
