off road lights
has anybody found a good kit that is relatively simple to install (i suck at electrical work in general) im just looking for 2 lights to bolt onto the factory brushguard. my stock headlights just dont cut it at night in bad conditions. if possible i want to set them up on a separate switch on one of those switch blanks so dont need to have them on with the regular lights.
thanks guys just remembered, am i gonna need a heavy duty alternator or battery, i knw some of those lights put a lot of stress on a system and the last thing i want is a chain reaction of new parts.

you could probably get away w/ 2 100w KC type lights without having to upgrade your alternator. you may want to beef up your battery. if you plan on running them for extended periods of time then you might want to invest in an upgraded alternator. this also assumes you dont have anything else draining the system like an aftermarket stereo.
you would need to wire in a relay, fuse, and switch. usually you can buy a kit w/ all the needed parts included. |

I've seen quite a few sets on ebay ranging from $45 - $60+

PIAA!!!
only way to go. simple to install. no need to upgrade ur bat or alt. least ive never had a problem yet. and i know my lights were on the truck from day one 100k+ miles ago. and i know mine was practially all wired all ready, just plug and play except for the switch which is 3 simple wires. ![]()

get the hella 500s. you can get a set at pep boys for about $75. you can also find them online and at advanced. they look great, are bright, easy to install and no you will not need any special alt or battery.
make sure to get some lock lights for them. otherwise....they might get gone quickly. below are links to the set-up i got. they work well together. http://www.4by4connection.com/hel500drivli.html

Would you guys recommend 100W driving lights for long distance illumination and 55W fog lights for more of a wide spread? I'm thinking of adding the 100W lights to the front bumper and 4 55W fogs to a roofrack for great light coverage.
