Question New knock sensor, same old issue...

So, my mechanic replaced the knock sensor and cleared the CEL, but he has experienced no improvement in the way the motor runs (rough idle, bucking under load...)

I suggested to adjust the TPS, because I had in an attempt to solve the problem before I let him try... but I haven't heard from him yet, which is not a good sign.

Whatdyall think? He mentioned the ECU might be bad, which is of course possible, but I don't understand that... 105k replacement? That's not on the maintenance schedule...

Awesome right?

Edit: Could this be somehow related to TSB# NTB00-096a which calls for a special ECM program? It is odd however, because it ran great when I bought it at 104k... less than 1000 miles later and the $hit hits the fan... Thanks Murphy!

Edit: Also, NTB00-052c further suggests an ECM replacement/reprogram ... Curiouser and curiouser...

quick bump

Checked all the plugs; all good. Engine stalls, hesitates, knocks...

Knock sensor replaced. New plugs, wires, cap & rotor.

Much noise, metallic scrape from distributor area... clicking similar to relay noise on driver's side of motor (audible from driver's seat, behind dash). Could be a whole lotta exhaust problems... any other ideas? Fuel injectors check out.

Edit: It turns out I needed a new distributor...
