New here..NEED some power...

Hi all i see alot of people getting intakes and exhaust, and when I do get exhaust I would like one that sounds good on a v6 and not too loud if you know what I mean. but any other performance mods suggestions would help. I am coming from a 2001 chipped Dodge diesel Thanks in advance!

this truck is nothing compared to your chipped cummins, the aftermarket sucks for these trucks and these engines are more for reliability and no so much for power, but to help you out you can get an intake,exhaust,4x4parts headers, test pipes, JET tune, e-fan mod, JWT camshafts, thats all i can think of for now, good luck modding my man! hope you stick around.

I have a Nismo exhaust and it's loud but bearable. I probably would have kept the stock exhaust if I new how loud the new one was. I covered my interior with dynamat and the floor with dynamat and dynaliner which keeps it reasonably quiet until you step on the gas.

The exhaust system has added power but I have not noticed much improvement in fuel economy. The best thing for fuel economy is being easy on the gas pedal.

ok. thanks for all the replys, and im sure this question is asked too much. Is there any exhaust that gives pretty good power gains that isnt as loud as the nismo or are they about the same. also im getting some plugs and wires first..should I probably change the timing belt also? last thing is how would i know if my knock sensor is bad? thanks again guys!

If you knock sensor is bad it will throw a code. However, it will not turn on the light. Take it down to an Autozone and have them check.

My guess is that if your engine has at least 50,000 miles on it and is older than 2004 you probably have a bad knock sensor. These are prone to fail.

yeah see if you have the code if so as long as you aren't s/c theres a way of getting out of it w/o replacing the sensor, if im not mistaken i think you use a maxima harness?

yeah make sure everything is running in tip top shape, you mentioned changing plugs and i would recommend wires and a new cap as well, make sure the belts are good and if not done yet do the water pump, make sure all your fluids are clean, that means engine oil, trans fluid, frontier and rear diffs and t case, after that let the modding begin.

I'm seriously considering a VG33E swap, put in some cams, and headers, and send of the ECM to Jet, should be pushing 200HP. big upgrade from 153
