Need Help! Code: P0430

My mother-in-law borrowed my fronty and when she brought it back the service light was on. I connected a pocket scan and it came up P0430 TW Catalyst system, Bank 2.

Do I need a new catalyst?
Is Bank 2 the passager side?
Will a set of headers eliminate the need for a catalyst?

Note to self: DO NOT LET YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW BORROW YOUR TRUCK

Can you view live data on your scanner? If so look at the o2 sensors bank 2 sensor 1 and sensor 2. Sensor one should be pretty active jumping around and sensor 2 should be fairly steady about .50 mv. If 2 is jumping a lot like 1 you have a catalytic converter going bad.

As demondrive said clear the code and see if it comes back.

Buy some universal hiflo cats and weld on the flanges to fit headers. But you do need to make sure that the cat died from age not a misfire or excess fuel poisening it or itll kill the new cat as well. So if it doesnt come back soon youre ok

I recently completed a full tune up with timing belt. I don't know what would be causing the cat to go bad. Since gas is getting more expensive I am using 89 octane instead of the 93. I think I going to buy two MagnaFlow cats and have my buddy weld them in. I found a great deal at performancepeddler.com two for $137.88. I hope the Magnaflow wil help with some performance at the exhaust.

If I remember right PO 430 is the code for the cat that is on the manifold on the passenger side but I can not remember for sure. I do know that PO 420 is for the cat that is on the manifold on the driver side because I had this code pop up not to long ago and ended up getting the the header from AC parts because the cat for the manifold was about 500 bucks

430 code is bank 2 cat. which on the 3.3 is passenger side. You will have to replace with oem part. aftermarket will not work or bolt on and headers will do no good. if you clear it, it will come back and odds are the bank 1 cat will fail soon as well. it is a common occurence. warranty on cats is 8 year 80k miles. good luck.

I have been looking around and I found headers for the fronty but not for the Supercharged engine. Does any sell headers for a 3.3L supercharged engine?
