Limited slip/locker options

Hello,
I just bought my '04 Off Road Frontier and would like to get a limited slip or maybe auto locker in the rear end.

Does anyone make one for this year? What axle do I have?

Most of my searches came back with 2nd gen Frontier. I think I prefer the True Trac if I can get one.

I think a good LS would be a great improvement over the standard diff. Me, I would find it more useful than a locker (LS would help not only off-road but also on the highway). Just my $0.02.

Your options are rather limited. You can't get a true Trac for the rear axle. You need a bit more info to tell what axle you have but you pretty much have two choices, a limited slip or an ARB air locker.

Feed your head.

Look in the drivers side door jamb at the sticker. Take note of your rear axle code and refer to this thread:
Hardbody and 1st gen axle info

Chances are you have the H233b. Check out 4x4parts.com, they sell all available options.

Also calmini and rugged rocks.

Good luck if you order from calmini.

I did, it says H646. From what I read it must have an H233B 33 spline 3rd member in it. Pretty much my only option is that clutched LS for $650?

You most likely have a limited slip that's worn out. If it were my money I'd do aan ARB. Bit more $$ but oooh so nice to just flip the switch. I love mine.

Look under the truck at the rear axle. If you already have a limited slip there should be an orange sticker on the center section somewhere that says something about using an additive or the right oil or something. If you have one it may just need rebuilt.
