Knock Sensor Replacment???

So I got a CEL today and there were two codes, one was the knock sensor and the other was that I was running lean.

I am looking to replace my knock sensor tomorrow and am wondering what all i need in the way of parts...also I cannot seem to find any info on actually replacing the sensor, like where it is? ANY info will be greatly appreciated.

Also if anyone has info on where to start with the lean mix that would be great. I am thinking the regulator but I dont know how to test that theory.

Thanks,
Ben

the knock sensor is under the intake manifold. not a quick and easy replacement. the sensor itself is about $180 from the dealer. probably a few hours to replace. good luck!

What is the deal with nissans and the knock sensor constantly going? I had a maxima and had to replace it...it was easy, but a real pain in the a$$. It was located in the intake manifold, and it was a tight spot. I used a ratchet with a few of those angle extensions to get in there and catch it just right. It took a few hours, and I ended up losing a socket in there, I then took ice tongs, to get in there and get my socket out.

Im not sure if the frontiers knock sensor is as bad, but Im sure it cant be a whole lot better. Best of luck!

Are there any gaskets or anything else that need to be replaced when I do this? Or is the sensor the only part i need?

The knock sensor is in the middle of the block on top in between the heads, since you will most likely have to remove the intake/exhaust manifolds you will need new gaskets

this will not be a short job as houdini said

and if you look around you might be able to find a new sensor for as cheap as 50 bucks

I was told its a paint in the arse to replace

Not worth it also the replacement will quit and go no beueno. I went knock sensor workaround! You can search here and also yahoo search it. Doing the mod ive increased mpg little and power is better! Advances the timing
