Installing To hitch receiver
2004 XE-v6 long bed 4x4
Got a "Quality S" Class III Hitch Receiver to install this weekend, Looks to mate up with 3 bolts on each side, where as the truck has but two areas for it to bolt up to and where the 3rd bolt would go is a nice big round hole in the frame, this hitch mounts to the underside of the back end of the frame on each side, i was gonna install this weekend just going ahead and installing the two that will fit, thinking it is a "typical" mounting bracket on the hitch and mine would do fine with the two in the frame, but they supplied 6 bolts, nuts, etc. (3 each side) so thats got me wondering, the directions talking about mounting 3 per side as well....... Ideas, am i being a little paranoid or should i just rock with the 2 on each side and carry on, or am i missing something. Thanks for the input. |

it should be 3 per side in conjunction with the bumper brackets.
but it depends on what your planning to tow. a row boat or small utility trailer you should be able to get away with the two bolts but i would recommend fitting a 3 rd one in there. it just adds that much more ridgeability.
