Recently done a lot of maintenance to the truck. I've replaced plugs, wires, distributor, knock sensor, crankshaft position sensor, valve cover gaskets, all intake gaskets, timing belt & tensioner, water pump, seals, all accessory belts & pullies, fuel filter, battery...
Truck starts like normal when cold but if i shut it off it doesn't want to start again when its at operating temperature. Any ideas?
Check engine light just came on when I was pulling into the driveway.
Bought a timing light and it's 15° at operating temperature with the with the 2 connectors unplugged at the throttle body
My fuel pump wasnt giving out enough pressure when hot for some reason, changed it out and the problem went away immediately... Been 2 years and it hasn't happened again
Check your pressure before starting, then at idle. Keep the gauge hooked up with a zip tie and drive around until that usual problem occurs when hot, then check the pressure and compare both to specs and your previous cold pressures
Let it warm up in the driveway to operating temperature. Shut it off for 10 minutes and had a hell of a time getting it started, nothing changed with the psi from before. I'm seriously getting frustrated, I have a lot of time and money in this thing and the problem continues
It runs fine but if it's shut off at operating temperature and sits for a short period of time it's hard to start. Starts fine when the engine is cold
I don't know how close the exhaust is to the starter or how hot the starter gets on these trucks, but I know some vehicles have a heat soak problem that keeps old starters from cranking well enough to start the engine. Maybe you could take the starter to a parts store and have it tested. Just a thought.
