Gibson cat back install 2000 CC
I know this has been done before but I want to share my experience. First off I took some pictures last night but after 45 min. I gave up trying to install.
When system arrived I checked out the instructions as to what I needed as way of tools and general layout. I had everything tool wise and the instructions seemed straight forward. I used liqiud wrench on the bolts overnight and gave them another shot in the morning when I went to breakfast. They came off rather easy for a truck that is 7 years old and 100,000 miles. I jacked up the drivers side rear about 6 inches off the ground and removed the spare tire. That made it much easier to work in the back. The instructions said a 9/16 wrench and a hack saw. Didn't need either one. I needed an 5/8 and 11/16 plus a 12 and 13 mm wrench. There was no way you could cut the pipe behind the muffler. There was just no room to work. It would have taken me all day. When the old system was loose the way I had it jacked up I slide the whole system forward with no problem. Fitting the new system was easy and went together well. It sounds great at idle and a little ricey giving it the throttle but I think it will mellow out after a while. I did not lose any low end from what I can tell. Overall I am happy with the system and if you are thinking about the Gibson cat back system use the vague instructions as a guide line only. It took longer getting the old system off and figureing out what size socket to use. Like someone said on these forums some time ago if you can change your oil you can do this. Now about those pictures. Bruce.
