"The manual transmission has a 0.81:1 overdrive ratio, the automatic has a 0.70:1, that's why you see an RPM difference. The axle ratio on most 00-04 Frontiers is 4.636:1, although the SC-V6 trims had 4.363:1 and some of the CCs had 4.90:1."
This is a quote from OnlyOneDR on the next thread down, or at least it was when I looked. Hope this helps and sorry to steal your thunder OnlyOneDR!

My truck has no balls in any gear, I can not beleive my truck has 4.636:1 gears. I think it's time for the old fashion way, jack up the rear and count the driveshaft to wheel ratio.
hm. my 4 cyl seems to actually pick up a bit in 3rd gear, but 1st and 2nd are pretty slow. I think you can squeze some power out of them if you try though.
Mine was a 95 Super Sport. I think they only had them for 2 years. It's just a loaded standard cab with the 4.3 4L60E powertrain out of a blazer with a LSD.
I drove my ex gf dad's S10 with 4.3 4L60E that wasn't the SS model and the power difference was huge. My SS had way more power, I could just light up the wheels with ease.
That is because the 4.3 in 95 was only rated at 155hp (it was bumped up to 180 in 96 or 97). My 97 would bark the back tires in 2nd (I had an auto) but that was after I put 3.73 gears in the rear axle.
My '99 Frontier 2.4 auto barks the tires very well when it hits 2nd and my tires/wheels are wider than stock! I have even caught my wife catching 2nd in my truck. Will cut a nice donut too! Haven't done that in a few years though.
