So two hot and muggy Central Texas days later and I have to say this has made a difference, I'm getting outside air temp. in the cabin now and don't seem to be pulling hot air from the engine bay anymore. Took about 10-15 minutes.

I guess this isn't a problem on the '04. I get outside air at outside air temp no problem if I set my vent selector to upper vents only. I was curious though and looked at the link for the fix and I still don't understand how that fix stops engine bay air from entering the cab. I guess I don't understand at all how engine bay air is getting into the cab.

i don't think its engine bay air. i think it may just be whne your parked the air around it is heated by bonnet and firewall. so when you first start to move the first bit of air through is hot. it only lasts for a short time.

i might look at doing the mod on the navara as having to have the fan on to get any air through when driving is a pain. also it may pay to check the exit vents in the cab. i might open those up a bit as well as having to slam the door to shut it is another pain (otherwise wind down window to before closing door normally).

I can't speak to the '04 or the navara, but on my '01 the intake holes were so plugged by the plastic chads that it was pulling air through the firewall holes (ie engine bay air). It will pull from wherever there's less resistance, and when the outside air intake is so plugged up it's easier to pull from the engine bay through the firewall holes. That's the idea behind the mod. I didn't bother plugging up the firewall holes like he mentions in the link and it seems fine.

So sir being from texas do you think that humidity might increase as well after doing this mod? Looks fine to me, and it makes sense, seeing as how air is pulled from the easiest path and all. I'm just worried that the humidity might be a factor.

Also, does the A/C work better when restarting the truck while running errands and the like?
