few questions for a first timer

hey, im a first timer here on this great forum and im just looking for some solid advise, my parents recently surprised me with a silver 2001 5sp SC CC as a first car and ive pretty much fallen in love with it. Right now im doing it an injustice by driving it like a grandma however in return im getting 16.8 mpg over the last 10 fill ups (about 85% city) so i cant really complain. My goal is to mod it enough to where i dont have to baby it to achieve half-way decent gas milage, so far all i have done is a magnaflow exhaust system, a smaller antenna, and silverstar lights, however in a couple days i will be ordering a k&n cai, an airraid throttle body spacer, and possibly performing the efan mod. Im looking for any form of input on these mods as well as others that would help my gas milage and have enjoyable power gains (chip, bed cover, spark plugs, smaller pulley...ect). Also as a 16 year old i have a limited budget, roughly 800-1000 dollars so please keep that in mind. Thanks for your .02 cents in advance, it's greatly appreciated.

the tbi and cai are good for making power high in the rpms, which, if youre looking for mpg gains, is not so good. but it makes your truck sound cool

i had mine custom made, its not much of a noise maker until i get above 2.5k but i like the sound and it seemed a little peppier(maybe imagination) i also only had to pay $180 to get it done because the guy had to cancel my first appointment so it worked out well ,thanks for your input though.

my frontier used to be my dads but he gave it to me for graduating high school i didn't even expect to have this truck, plus he bought an f150, yeah i love my truck also except mine is an auto and don't have the s/c, i have a magnaflow catback as well but i bought mine as a catback stainless steel IMO i paid to much for it but w/e lol it sounds good and pepped the truck up a good bit, i also have the K&N intake that also pepped the truck up and combined with my exhaust sounds awesome, my MPG's also raised which i liked, as for you, the premium fuel must suck but 16.8 out of a s/c truck is pretty good, the exhaust along with an intake and smaller pulley will allow for more boost fiving more power out of that s/c which could give you more MPG's, i know how you feel on a budget it sucks i only work part time, anyway good luck man and take care of it lol, post pics if you can.

you will notice the most mpg gains from the E-fan mod.

2001-2004 Nissan Frontier - K&N Cold Air Intake - 57 Series FIPK Generation II this site carries the sc specific one for $282.65 w/ free s/h, that seems to be pretty standard
