Well CNN says dont use ethos because it doesnt work as well as they say and for how well it does work its not worth it for the money spent.

Ill stick with seafoam.. Much cheaper and ive notice results with seafoam..
Well you only put it in the oil with each oil change, so that's once every couple of months (with normal driving). I'm not saying this stuff works, who knows. They definitely tell a good story, and putting some in your oil will clean your valves, rings, etc and help give you a better burn. Like others stated, just not sure how safe it is. We used to pour marvel mystery oil in the carb and crankcase of older vehicles for the same reasons. It definitely cleaned them up and stopped the smoking and knocking. But we never used it continuously.

That said, MMO is now recommending a qt of MMO with each oil change (about $4) and 4 oz with every 10 gallons of gas (about $0.50) and they claim the same benefits as ethos.

Marvil is great stuff! runn it in the gas and in the oil! I have run it for years and actually it totally fixed a rattly valve in my 95 mustang. it lubes everything and a ASE master told me it is the best thing to us for cleaning injectors out there!

Yea, and its been around since WWII'ish. So why pay $53.95 for 32 oz of Ethos, when you can pay $4.00 for 32 oz of MMO and do the same thing with it, and you know it's a proven product.

Yeah did you know that it started as a fuel additive for Airplanes! to lube the upper cyl. walls, valves and keep the injection points clear! Also great for diesels used instead of trans fluid in the fuel.
As for the SEAFOAM... There is nothing in that bottle that will harm your motor. It is cleaning from the time it enters the motor until the time it leaves the tail pipe. the smoke is crap that has been stuck in your motor for ever and would eventually pass the 02 sensor either way except now you are cleaning the sensor as well.

cant tell you for sure.. but I have never heard of any ill effects.. and I have done allot of reading about it... I have heard of cleaning a mtr that was very old and used bad gas and having leaky valves afterwords.. but thats not because of the seafoam.. its because the crud was keeping them from leaking...

Added MMO to motor today

So today I changed the oil and use 1 quart of Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) and 4.4 qts of 10W30. I also added 6oz to 15 gallons of gas. I will attempt to add 4oz per 10 gallons of gas until the next oil change and log the results.

Here is the last log entry prior to adding MMO:

6/12/08 231.3 miles, 15.807 gallons (87) 14.63 MPG - this tank did include some trailer towing, several loads from Lowes, and some 4x4 driving.

MMO Added to oil and Gas:
Initial reaction, truck is definitly more peppy and has slighlty differant tone. This is a surprise, I did not expect to notice any immediate change.
