ECU reset after mod???

Would it be to my bennifit to reset my ECU after doing a mod such as Air box? My manual says not to do it but I have heard otherwise... If it would help things such as mpg or hp, how long do I need to unhook the battery?

reseting the ecm will force it to relearn fuel trim. the dealer can do this with their scan tool. otherwise unhooking the battery for atleast an hour might do the trick. they say 20 minutes but youd be surprised. however dont expect to notice anything by doing this. any help this gives you will be minimal and until the ecm relearns you may notice a drop in performance and fuel mileage, although only slight.

unhook your battery for like 30 minutes then hook it back up if you feel you need to, the computer should adapt to the new mixtures regardless though

it always helps to do a hard reboot, it clears out old crap learned, and makes it relearn without preconcieved info . The way I always reboot ecus is pull the positive or negative battery cable from the battery and if you touch the cable to the opposite terminal it disharges the capacitors that are mini bateries to hold memory like your radio, and well as the volatile memory in ecu's. Hold it there for 10-20 sec they reconnect, and you should be good to go after you reset you clock and all radio presets.....
