I was working on my truck and dropped a socket down into the engine bay one night. Never hit the ground and after 10 minutes of looking for it, I decided to give up and try to find it in the daylight. While driving around that night I could hear it rattle around, so I knew it was somewhere in there.
Hit a bump on the freeway at about 65mph and heard a loud clank, and sure enough the socket fell out because the rattle went away.
However, as soon as that happened, my truck threw a check engine light and it's the knock sensor code. I'm assuming the KS mistakened that sound for an engine knock and retarded the timing. Am I fine to clear the code and reset the ECU or do I need to do the ks relocation as described on the forum? :crikey:
