CODES CODES CODES! kinda cool
I was looking around online for stuff on our trucks and found these, not sure if they are any help to anyone at all but I thought I'd post. So this may be a dumb question but Ill ask it anyway.. If my truck was throwing a code would I know it? I mean would something light up on the dash? Or is this something I would need to hook up to a code reader to find out?

Some will set off the dash light some wont. It all depends on what it is.

Goes both ways... some codes set off a SES light; or other warning lights on the dash; some don't (like the knock sensor in the first gens-- you might not know it's bad til you check and it throws a code.)

good find, my service engine light came on all the freakin time in my '01, due to a rusted cat converter, wanted to just cut the dang thing off but had to have my brother in law code it as good often.

my light pops up a little more often than I would like. I finally got it to go out today by replacing that purge valve solenoid, at least I hope it stays off
