Not sure the US market will respond well to a Chinese built car, as we're still sort of hung up on perceived build quality. While the vehicle may perform, its that question of street cache', coolness and the possibility that a Chinese made car may not last as long as it should. Those kinds of question marks could make it impossible for the Chinese manufacturer to take a chance importing them here (to the states).

Interesting... the dual cab doors look like older Isuzu Rodeos' doors.... looks like the mfr take pieces of different cars and combine them into their own design.

look at daewoo.. oh wait those just sucked..

but it's hard to bring a Diesel power plant in to the US, they end up gettign raped by the EPA. I don't think it's becouse of the lack of people wanting them that they are not offered it just a PIA to get them to pass so they can be sold here.

Daewoo was forced into bankruptcy and run into the ground by Korea's then president which was a stupid, selfish, and corrupt decision on his part. Every car company needs to start somewhere. Daewoo had a better start than Hyundai imo. Remember the POS Hyundai Excel? Just as Daewoo was learning and growing they're forced to shut down.

On looking in at the dealership you are correct in your assumtion. The hover double cab has a front nose that is a direct copy off of a vw concept for a small suv, the rest of it is an exact copy of izuzu kb and the petrol engines on the gwm is an exact copy of toyota from about 25 years ago. And the gwm has a 1st gen frontier front end there are also some driving around here that are almost identical to the Izuzu kb in every way.
