catalytic converter heat sheilds removeal

Anyone have any problems after taking off their shields?

Just recently I was getting a terrible rattling sound from the exhaust I checked under it today and found the catalytic converter heat shield so loose that half of it had rust through and you could move it back and forth. I removed both pieces. I see the riders side does not look any better and probably will have to remove that one as well sometime soon.

You might want to reconsider removing the shields. The heat could pose problems for the floorboard and the carpet above the cats.

Ok looks like I can buy a set for the truck.

There is a set of shields that are around the converter and then there is another heat sheild on the underside of the body too. So hopefully it will not burn through before I get new sheilds.

They are cheap so I will just a set.

I thought you were talking about the heat shields above the cats. The lower shield is also important to keep from starting fires on dry grassy areas you might park on.

Yeh, I was talking about the heat shield around the cat... Sorry for the confusion. I usually don't park in the grass but I will change get it updated so just in case. I was surprised those things are a good 10 lbs.
