Question Broken Shock

I got out of my truck yesterday and just happened to notice a broken shock on my drivers side rear. I was wondering...
1. Would this cause some shaking when I am driving?
2. What would be the best shocks for the money to replace these with?

Thanks for the help.

yeah it deff wouldnt give you as smoth as ride as before more than likeley.

and bascially any performance shock is going to be nicer that stock. im personally going with calmini mainly for the color lol but ive heard good things about them. and they are decently cheap. but other wise id say throw on some bilstiens (sp?)

Not sure on your second question, but yes the truck would bounce around a lot more. A shock doesn't really push down as much as it stabilizes the ride so it doesn't keep bouncing. Remember the olden days when cars were on leaf springs but didn't really have shocks? They'd bounce all over the place.

Ranchos are awesome shox, from the low end to the best ones they sell. Just about everyone ive known with a fronty or X has blown a shock. not only do the stock sux simply suck, the mounts are terrible too. Ican't tell you how many times ive seen the welds on the mounts shear off.

I have heard a bunch of stories a few years ago about the shocks breaking off the bushing-end on the bottom of the shock body. It's been a couple years since I've heard of one now.

If you predominately drive on the street and don't offroad it, don't get the Ranchos unless you want a bouncy ride. They are awesome on the trial but do nothing for smoothing out the minor pavement irregularities on the street. Bilsteins would be a much better choice in that case.

I have Rancho 5K series on mine, they work well but don't ride as nice as stock.
