I think it's kind of frowned upon. It's definitely illegal and will dim your headlight vision. I believe most (such as myself) have gone with aftermarket lights as the alternative.

Blacking out the outside is easiest but will wear after time. To do them on the inside supposedly requires separating the two sections which means you'll need to heat up the lights to break down the glue bonding them together, and then reapply once done with the blackout. If you do take this route, I'd recommend using Night shade and then a protectant over that, but again it's not the route I would take.

Now Steve had a set of blacked out lights that were similar to OEM ones, just black instead of Chrome, but I believe they no longer manufacture them. Steve?

black them out your self and save an *** load of cash, its not hard to pull your lamps off, pop them in teh oven for a couple min and pull them appart, paint the chrome, just mask off the reflective chrome that the head light bulb uses and them put them back together. looks just as good as anything else and its pretty cheap. can of spray paint and maybe a tube of black silicone to seal it back up properly

They still have the black ones with the clear reflector.

On ebay, they have the ugly/cheap/ricer looking projector w/ angel eye headlights.

As far as OEM style, they have an all chrome pair (like stock only with a clear reflector and clear turn signal filter instead of amber), an all black pair like dave's (black housing with clear reflector and clear light filters), and they make these.... which is what I want.

I saw these a couple times only on ebay then just went to the store's website and found them.

These are a grey painted housing with the clear reflector and the OEM style amber filter for the turn signal.

www.x3racing.com is the site that sells these. Good luck.
