Bed weight

In the past few weeks, I have been hauling firewood and I got to thinking, how much can our trucks haul? I have a '98 2.4. I haven't had any trouble driving anywhere so Im sure I havent maxed the weight out.

I hauled 4 loads of wet sand and had it full to the top. It kinda sagged in the back but as long as I didn't hit any large bumps it never bounced off the bump stops. The engine pulled it fine and never seemed to strain at all. I just took it easy though.

Has anyone had a chance to see the payload rating on the 2.4 yet?

True, But Im not sure how that would matter that much. I have seen other 4x4's with alot more that 1,000lbs in the bed.
