4WD convert? or stick with 2WD? confused

hey guys im stuck with a 2wd frontier, iv only been stcu once with it but i would like 4wd, my friend has a 04 frontier lifted 6inches with 38's, he never uses 4wd, i can follow him everywhere, if i did 4WD what else would i nee besides these's...

front diff
cv axles
hubs
spindles
rotors
4x4 cross memeber
drive shaft

what else would be needed? all said and done roughly $1,500
but then again for $1,500 that could be alttle lift and a locker? im confused, iv also seen SAS swaps witch to me are amazing but look very hard to do,

4wd tranny aswell will be needed

you've got a good start on the parts list, but you will also need a transmission, transfer case, some interior pieces to make room for the shifter, etc.

its not a hard swap, but it does take some time. especially the gathering parts portion of the swap.

do a search. believe it or not...this has come up before and there are some good pieces of information on this board.

Now back on topic. That beast you see, Houdini's, used to be 2wd. He converted it to 4wd, and now has SAS'd it. Now I'm sure that Houdini enjoyed his time with his IFS 4wd, but now that he's SAS'd, I bet he wishes he could of saved the money and went straight to the SAS swap.

So ask yourself... how hard to you want to wheel it??

nah....i am glad i went with IFS to start. it was a learning curve kinda thing. i would know what to do with my truck if i had gone from stock 2wd to what it is now.

nismofan01, you ever consider an ARB air locker for your 2wd instead of going 4wd?

i have thought about the ARB now all ina ll it would be roughly 1,200 or so for locker with compressior and the 4wd would deff be around 1500 or so im kinda in between idk ha yea that 04 frontier with 6inch lift is insane

those are not 38s. maybe 33s or 35s. sharp looking truck though!
