3 MPG Gain!!!!! YAHOOO!!!!!

So I decided to do a test... I started with using marvel mystery oil.. then slowed my highway speed from 75 down to 65.

History of the truck: I have had her for about 2 yrs and have tried everything shy of slowing down and have never gotten better than 15.5 mpg I run synthetic oil only.

Drove about 80% hwy and 20% stop and go(hay truck caught I5 on fire yesterday and had it shut down for 5+ hrs...)

I filled up and got 18.5mpg!!!! I cant even believe it! just ten miles per hour slower for 3mpg gain!

Now Im set for doing the E-fan mod and shooting for 20mpg!

So for all of the people out there B!tching about bad Mpg..... slow it down! I wish I could get away with going slower but I would be run off the road! as it sits people drive 75 around here... Im not sure about the MMO.. Ill test with out it and post results.

Anyways, I just thought I would share

If you have never done this! Clean your MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner. This should be done at every oil change (IMO). Also add a bottle of SEA FOAM to the gas and see if that helps.

IMO - to test MPG always do a good run on the hwy doing normal driving like around 70mpg. Don't be a hazzard and drive 55 mph lol.

I run my 2003 CC 4x4 LB @ 70-75 on Cruise and have received 19mpg. However, this was after my MAF cleaning. I was getting 16-17mpg before MAF cleaning.

I clean the MAF at every oil change and clean it with seafoam every 6 months or so..

I have always been told slow it down because the peak point is 55mph but I never tried..

More info on the e-fan mod can be found here. Maxima e-fan compatibility? I have a write up in there towards the end.

Also the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) This little device is located just after the air cleaner. It's best if you grab a Hayes Manual and give it a quick once over about this part. What you want to do is go to Autozone and get a spray can of MAF cleaner (just ask for it they should know what you are talking about). Then remove the screw holding it into the plenum. DO NOT TOUCH the thin wire in the center. After you remove it you can spray the MAF cleaner on it. I used two or three applications before I was satisfied. Then replace it back into the plenum. This is really simple!
