1999 Frontier water leak

I have a 1999 Nissan frontier 2wd Extended cab with a manual. This has been a great truck, but I discovered the driver's side floor was wet after going through the car wash yesterday. I'm wondering if anyone knows any areas that regularly leak.

I pulled the sill plate and kick panel on the driver's side. The padding on the wheel well was wet as well as the carpet. It seems like water may be leaking in around the firewall.

Is this a common problem? Has anyone had a similar problem and solved it? I was hoping to get some info before pulling the wiper arms and the underlying panel to see if there are any obvious areas that may be letting in water.

Thanks,
Stephen

I'm almost sure it's the original windshield. I bought it used about a year ago, so it could have been replaced in the past.

check the grommet where the hood release cable enters the cabin. pull the carpet back and check all grommets where anything goes from teh cabin to the outside and make sure they're all fully inserted. if you're lucky you'll be able to see water trails from where the water's been and where it came from, and follow those to the source. it may be coming from up higher than you'd anticipate, but i'd start from the bottom and work your way up

My windshield has the name Libbey Nippon imprinted on the lower passenger side. Is this OEM glass?

There is only water on the driver's side floor. I dried it out pretty well with a fan yesterday, but today it is wet again, even though it didn't rain or get exposed to water. Perhaps it is just moisture coming out from under the sound deadening material under the carpet.

I found something that I hope was the problem. When my after market cruise control was installed they cut a grommet in the firewall to run wires through. It is on the driver's side and was a pretty big hole. I filled the hole with silicone, so hopefully that will take care of it.

Thanks for the replies.

there should already be a pretty big hole on the passenger side, they might have just removed the rubber plug in it

edit: just realized I put passengers side, meant to put drivers

Its not coolant right? and you will probably have it get wet again for a while as the moisture falls to the lower areas.. probably had some wet padding up higher...
