00 Frontier has a miss

I'm working on my bro in laws 00 Frontier and it has a miss. It started out as a real bad miss, almost wouldnt run. I done a full tune up, plugs/wires/cap/rotor button and it runs a lot smoother. It still has a miss in it every now and then. It'll run smooth for 20 seconds and then you can feel/hear it miss. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think I'm gonna stick a new distributor in it tonight, hopefully that'll clear this issue up.

It sounds like another malfunction of the infamous knock sensor. How many miles are on it?

159k miles. Its showing knock sensor code actually. Didn't know the knock could make it miss.

Yeah, mine did it badly under power. It can make it miss because the knock sensor retards and advances the timing depending on how the engine is working. The bad part is that though the sensor is only about 100 bucks, the time and labor involved is a ***** because they have to practically tear the engine apart because its under the plenum. It sucks.

It turned out it was the distributor. I'll keep that in mind about the knock sensor in the future. I could pull the plenum. I've been working on mustangs for years and learned a lot in the process. The first distributor I got from autozone was bad, no spark at all from it. Second one and it runs like a new truck. Thanks!
