PDA GPS and Topographic Maps

Any one using a PDA for a GPS??? and if so are they any good??

I manly want a PDA so i can use its memory and also run Ozi Explorer (or similar) with a Topographic map. Then my next question are topographic maps worth having ??

This is something that I'm looking at buying.

Oh thanks for everyone's help......not.

Well I bought one anyway a Asus mypal 636n. Its not too bad once you get the hang of it, although when i was out of town following some country roads that on the GPS kept on going when in reality went no where. That was a bit frustrating.
Also it was pretty useless in the state forest as it didn't show any roads or tracks, but I always new that.
That's why I need to run oziexplorer and some topographic maps.

I've been thinking of doing the PDA thing as well but like you don't know too much about it all. Have dealt with ja-gps before and found them really good

well heres my 2 cents worth
I was actually thinking seriously about installing a car PC
they go for round the $1000 for the unit and then some other things like screens etc. The upside to this is that you can also have it as your dvd player radio etc and all in the one neat unit
ok times up thats it for 2 cents

cheers

Yeah I log onto overlander quite a bit........I just get lost in all that puta jargon, but from what I've read I think the PDA's are the go.
There is also some downloadable Topo maps for free on Overlander site.
When I get some time i might down load a test version of Oziexplorer and give it a go.
"Where Is" is pretty limited to sealled roads.

Yeah i have checked them out as well, but then you need soft ware $$$$, gps receiver, blah blah blah.
Plus you can carry the PDA if your doing some bush walking or take it on the boat if you have the right maps, it plays MP3's and you can get 2GB SD cards or bigger.
