Aaah so I'm not the only one one who thinks new cars paint is shyt. Used to be a time when you lightly scratched your car you could polish it out, now a minor scratch from a thorn is permanent. I hate new paint, even the bodies of new cars are fragile. I know they have higher saftey standards but jeez man a coke can is stronger than the cars they build nowdays I'm convinced plastic bodies would be better than this paper thin steel used now, just look at some of the fancy sportscars a lot have plastic body parts.
Regards
Peter

Hi pete the paint is pretty crappy and every time i wash the truck i find more scratches .The paints so thin i'm scared to even try to polish them out.
I think the "fancy sportscars " (im not sure i know that make ) are made from carbon fibre and kevlar. plastic is too heavy. They make boats out of plastic's (polythylene) very tuff but weigh twice as much as an alloy boat the same size.

We also have a Nissan X-trail. The front guards are plastic. You can (apparently) really them and they just spring back. I doubt the paint would though, would probably craze or crack.

V6.... way to go mate glad to see someone else thumb there nose at those slow gutless diesels ...hell with the price of fuel..... its nearly dropped to a buck a litre now anyway.
RX dont have mud flaps???? maybe they will help stop you getting stone chips
I am couple more hours north in Maryborough. The RX model has mudflaps. Main Difference between the the 2 models is one has power windows and mirrors and some chrome bits, side steps, rollbars, wheels and mine doesn't. Not that it really worries me, was going to put some nice mags on it soon and get a hard cover for the back. Once a RX model use to have really dodgy interior but now they are pretty good. Carpet Floors nice interior Air Con. This car replaced my 4.2 TD Patrol. So far it works out about the same for fuel price vs km.

Ok nav let me rephrase that quote fancy sports cars, To some American sports cars and some older Porches like 944's they had plastic fenders also the BMW 645 (new one ) has plastic fenders and bonnet but carbon roof and ally doors.
but not Maclaren, Koenigseg Spyker and more (don't know how to spell these names).
But you know what I mean.
Oh the beetle is also plastic so are the front fenders on Renault's

Aah stop it Peter

I hope to get there this year.
Do you do any fishing up there?
I was going to get the RX untill i saw all the extra goodies you get on the ST-X for 5 grand more. You forgot colour coded front bumper & chrome rear bumper
Actually the cruise control, six stacker and the drivers seat are really good.

Not a really big fishing person. Haven't been excited about going over to fraser. With the current Barge and Licence costs nearly $100 just to get there. Cruise Control I never really use much. 6 Stacker wasn't of great importance, Already thrown the headunit out. Also couldnt really afford to wait for a shipment to come in. I Asked about a ST-X and was told there would be a 8 week wait. I friend of mine is currently waiting for his V6 Navara , ordered a ST-X last month should have by the end of this month.

Currently in the design process of putting a decent system in. A couple amps, small sub. Headunit is installed. Was also think DVD and maybe a revesing camera.

Isn't it bloody tipical ........you live about a 40min drive from the fraser island barge and you couldn't be bothered going over there
People come from the other side of the world to see it and you wont drive up to harvey bay and pay a $100.
Oh well im just as bad the barge to moreton is just 10min's up the road and i havent driven over there for years..although i go over there in my boat from time to time.

What head unit did you get?......check out the audio section on this forum to get ideas how to set up the rest.

Just getting away from the brokeback mountain and fishing stories
Ya the paint I think is a issue!!
I think the robot needs a big kick up the arse!
Mine being metallic shows a few flaws, there is variation in the metallic flake through the paint. Some light patches and some heavy patches.
On the rear passenger door there is a thinning of the paint from top to bottom.
But what do ya do??
Whinge to the dealer??
Thank God for Meguiars wet look polish!!

Whats wrong with fishing stories?????....and broke back mountain that's Tommos favorite movie

I think i got the same robot on the maroon day.
Seriously if there is bad floors in the paint take it back get them to fix it....you paid a lot of money.
Mines a pretty ordinary paint job......bad orange peel and scratches very easy.
I had paint protection put on ....not at the dealer's but at the same place our local Nissan does Theres for about half the price.
That makes washing easy and it comes up all shiny just with drying it off better than wax/ polish.
