Navara central Locking

Does anyone know if the central locking can be altered? What I would like to do is have all the doors unlock at the same time when I open the drivers door how it works at the moment is that I either have to unlock all the doors via the cab switch or use the remote. I contantly forget do this and its irritating when I get out the drivers side then go the rear passenger door, like say on the opposite side of the truck and the doors still locked and the keys in the Ignition. I have done this so many times over the past two years it's starting to bug me, I also feel in the event of an accident this is not such a great idea who's going to remember to first push the dash switch when you need to get your kid out in a hurry? This is the first car I've owned with this arrangement for the central locking every other car I've owned has unlocked all the doors when the drivers door is opened.

Thanks in advance

Regards
Peter

Hi Peter
Strangely enough our central locking does all doors at the same time.I seem to remember something bout changing modes by pushing both buttons at the same time. Will go give it a try and see what happens .

Nope not a sausage. Still the same ,,,all doors lock/unlock .
Will go read the book n see if I can find anything

Not stirring you up, but from what I have read about SA maybe it's sorta an anti carjacking feature?

Thats probably what it is, even more reason I don't want it to work like that.

on our frontiers, holding both buttons at the same time turns the horn honk when locking with the fob function on and off. I'm fully aware that they are different and region specific and that it may not be the same for you however..

I'm almost certain I can help you out, but can you be more specific on what you want to achieve?

from what I understand, you want to unlock the driver's door, open it, and upon opening the door (physically pulling it open) you want it to automatically unlock the other doors. Is this correct?

With Aussie Navara's when we press the button to unlock the truck it opens all the doors. Peter's on the other hand in South Africa is somewhat differant. It unlocks only the drivers door and a second press opens the rest of the doors. Peter is wanting to have all doors open at the same time as I understand it .

ok, i looked at the service manual for our frontiers, (sorry i can't get a hold of the navara one.) there is no consult II programing on it to change the function of the unlock button in relevance to the doors unlocking. the only things programmable are number of flashes on the turning lights, and horn on or off.

again, this is for our frontiers here in the u.s. they could very well have different programming options for the navaras. one thing you can do is use a trigger from the driver's unlock motor to activate a relay that will tap the unlock door switch when ever the driver's door is unlocked with the key fob. this would require you to get into your door for the wires, but it should work.
