Fuel Tank Questions
Just curious. When does your fuel light come on. When mine come on, I only succeed in putting 62 ltrs of fuel in. It is spose to hold 80 which means there is nearly 18ltrs of fuel left.
Also does anyone have trouble filling up. I find i have to rock the vehicle to make sure it is full if I don't the fuel gauge sits just below the F mark. But the servo attendant looks at you weird then.

Yep that's about right....I usually have around 20ltrs in the tank when the light and that annoying beep comes on.
and the fuel gauge sits just bellow the f mark sometimes it goes higher after about 30 kms. I have gone down to having 3 ltrs left without running out. Servo attendant !!!!! what the hell are they???...lol Hey what mileage are you getting ??...I'm around 16ltrs / 100kms around the city loaded up with 600kgs.

Fuel light seems to come on at around 65 litres used as I drove for a while and then put in 70 litres. My last vehicle was pretty similar in that it had about 20 litres left when the light came on.

Mileage at the moment is around 14lt - 15lt /100km for a lot of town driving. 12lt - 13lt /100km hiway running. Depends how much right foot is used. Used a bit of right foot last week and came back at 16lt /100km.
I am surprised about the fuel gauge, how it does not sit on full much. I wonder if it has anything to do with the filler pipe only been 3/4 of the way up on the side of the fuel tank??? Most I have put in the car so far has been 71lt. And I drove the cars for 2 days with the light on.

I think that pretty good economy for a 4x4 with that amount of power.
The few times i have driven mine without any weight.......man i cant keep my foot off the accelerator ...geez that thing flies. Would you still prefer a slow old diesel to save a few bucks a week on fuel.....it cost me about $12 a week more to have a V6.......$hit it cost you more to buy smoko and lunch mate. The fuel gauge is all over the place...when it gets to a quarter it still has over 30 ltrs left.

Mine seems to come on with about 15-18 litres left depending on day of the week/phase of the moon etc. The light came on this week at about 650 km (total 710.1 at fill up) and managed to squeeze 67 litres in this week. The other week it came on at 720 km gone, and I got 65 litres in..
weird.. My guage doesn't move from slightly above full until about 150 km travelled. At 450 -470 km it's on 1/2 full. At 550-600 is' at 1/4.. at 720 it's on Empty... Fuel consumption doesn't vary much though.. 9-9.5 l/100 km around town... Rowds |

I actually did the Maths and unless you need the low down grunt for towing then the deisel will actually cost you more money . $2000 extra to buy a deisel over a petrol. Fuel on average 20c a litre dearer for deisel than petrol.Services petrol should be cheaper. We did the sums and just on fuel costs alone it was going to take 8 years for the deisel to pay itself off.
Sorry gimme the revven heven of a petrol anyday and the oil dont stain ya clothes skin n driveway when u working on em lol

Deisel was cheaper than ULP for few months this year, I expect that will become normal in 2 -3 years time
I know when I'm towing i'm saving ~ 80-100 bucks/weekend! over 2 years, that's an easy 2 grand saving!... Price- I doubt when it comes down to it, after haggling , fleet rates, and stuff that there would have been 2K difference in what we got our deisel for, over a petrol. Services are basically just oil changes & checks anyway- cost should be similar until they have to touch the fuel pump or turbo- but warranty should cover that. My Nav will go out the door at 3 years, and will be replaced with perhaps another one? who knows! work on them in the driveway?? .. fark that!.. new car= some poor apprentices problem!! Rowds |
