4X4 ute of the year

4X4 australia magazine sep issue has compared 6 different makes of duel cabs in both v6 and diesel to find the best.
AND THE WINNER IS..........."SsangYong Musso"........NO..only pulling your leg

It was the Navara Turbo Diesel

They finished in this order from best to worst
1.Navara TD
2.Mitsubishi Triton TD
3.Navara V6 (only because of the stupid place where they put the alternator oh..and fuel economy.)
4.Toyota Hilux TD.....at least the v6 beat the luxies
5.Mazda Bravo TD
6.Triton V6
7.Ford Courier TD
8.Hilux v6....
blah.blah.blah...oh and last of all....Holden rodeo 11th & 12th

It was a pretty long article and the comparisons were good they had 6 different jurnno's testing.
They didnt test the patrols, landrovers or landcruisers because they're only for rich cow cocky's
and maybe next year it will be the mighty "Musso"

Sohow do they split the Mazda Bravo and the Ford Courier when they're the same bloody thing! And they've put a Mitsubishi in front of the 'Lux!!! Tha's gotta hurt!

I have only read one article where the jurno (i use that term loosely) gave the Navara the thumbs down it was obvious he was pro toyota but that was at the begging of the year and since then there has only been glowing reports.

The triton they tested was the latest model so they have improved somewhat.

Yes after market parts will improve 4X4 mag ,overlander mag ,ARB ect...all have Navara's long term so parts should catch up to hilux pretty quick.

Seems the weakest link is Nissan taking 4-6 months to order them in .

Where is the D22?

Hey Navara-au
Is it true they left out the D22 because they only wanted to test the show ponies. I guess when they test the real utes Patrol, landcrusier the D22 will be included. The true 1 Tonners. Cheer up up a least you be beat the triton and hilux on looks.

They didnt do the patrols or cruisers because they are bringing out new models next year. They already have the new model Navara and didnt want to drag any of those old dinosours around the circuits

Navman what are you going to do with your Navara have you booked in for the TJM suspension kit yet? Does yours come out with 16" rims?

Navara-au
Not yet booked in for the lift, trying to save some coin. $1600+ fittingTJM,EFS ARB a little cheaper no new torsion bars just wined the old ones. Might just throw some new shocks on, the originals are as thick as your little finger. Height not bad as standard. Really want to set it up as a tourer, not a rock hopper. Standard tyres are 265/70/16 Bridgestone D693 All terrains on 16x7 rims. Haven't managed to get them to rub at full travel. 4wd Monthly the D22 got the best RTI up the travel ramp of all the IFS utes, even better than a 100series IFS cruiser. So much to do, build storage system for back, long range tank, dual battery, driving lights etc
so little cash . Want to travel throught western NSW and do the Flinders next year.
