Okay, I know I'm not the only one in the state of Washington who wheels on this site. I'm hoping to get a few people and vehicles together to do some light to moderate (stock 4x4 friendly / safety not guaranteed) wheeling somewhere around the Sound. Maybe in mid-January? Make some new friends. Drink too much coffee. Get some bragworthy FB pictures.
It'd be nice to find someone who has done a few trail around here as well. I've done a tiny bit of Nachees Pass Trail but not enough to evaluate how rough it is.
It is kinda hard to find trails that work with longer wheel base vehicles on the west side. A lot of them are ideal for Jeeps but not as much for trucks. But here are a few areas that I have been that I think would work. I have bumpers and a winch, but no lift and some more aggressive tires.
Fortune Creek - Out past Rosyln
Tahuya State Park - On the peninsula
Evans Creek - Past Enumclaw
I would love to meet up and do some wheeling, I know my son would love it too. Though I'm a novice and a completely stock '13 Pro-4x. Hopefully I could tag along, but wouldn't be offended if it ends up being a trail not for me.
This time of year I would suggest either Evans Creek which should have snow and you could honestly keep to the "main road" and still enjoy it. Tahuya has plenty of easier trails too and would probably be more of the muddy side of things. Fortune Creek is a bit more technical. You will scrape up the skids plates on it.
I didn't know there were enough Datsuns in Tacoma to warrant a meeting. >
We might be able to get more of a commitment from some people if we set a date. Maybe invite a couple of the local Xterra/Jeep/Tacoma clubs and see if we could get five or six vehicles.
