WA State: NASCAR?

So a big debate down in Olympia is over a proposal NASCAR track to be built out in Kitsap County, near the Bremerton Airport. What do you all think of the idea? Would you go to a race if the track were out there? Would the building of the track effect you in any way? What about a track in a different part of the state, like near Spokane?

You think the traffic on Highway 16, the Narrows bridge, and at the Southworth Ferry terminal sucks now...just wait until/if they build that track!

No Kidding! I can just imagine the line up for the seattle - bremerton ferry on race days. Not from the highbrow elite-ist seattlites mind you, but from the suburbanites on the eastside and the ruralists from east of the Samm plateau.
I can just image the activists from Queen Anne: NASCAR track? NOT IN MY BACKYARD!
Seriously they would really need to think about some major roads/road improvements for a track. And not like they don't need to improve some other state roads/bridges first. Don't get me wrong, I would love to go to a track and spend a day and a bunch of cash to watch a real NASCAR race, but trying to convice people to put it near them is going to be hard.

that's pretty much my thoughts. I personally would never go. Rather spend my time fishing or wheelin. but to each is own.

Hell, I have't even made it to the tacoma dome for a monster truck rally, and thats like 10 minutes from my house. If i'm driving out to bremerton, there better be fish or mud involved

I grew up in Belfair WA, which is about 2 miles from where the track will be. I think that the area will change but all the money that it will bring in will be for the better. If I am correct the closest track is in Vegas and a track here in Washington will pull huge numbers. The problem will be this Track falls very close to on the border of Mason and Kitsap counties. The peopel in each have differnt ideas on how it will effect the country feel of the areas.

Also here right next to Belfair is a sweet off road area. The Tahuya State Forest. It has tons of trails and places to get your truck stuck. Here is a link http://www.geocities.com/lapiche3/tahuya.pdf
