I'm going to Maine for a few days

My girl and i are going to be in the York area for a few days on vaca. looking to see if any of you guys from up there know of some cool stuff to do and the most liveliest bars for night life. what time do bars close? whats gas prices?
leaving the fronty home and taking the civic up cause of gas prices.
whats good to do that might not be on the vacation sites.
thanks

Bars close at 1 AM. I don't go to bars anymore, but Portsmouth (nh)has a reputation for a lively bar scene. Gas prices are about 4.05 at the cheapest. fill up in Portsmouth (nh) where prices are much cheaper (so they say) which is a stone's throw from York and on your way. As to what to do, it depends on your interests but York Beach is nice. There's the Wells Auto Museum on Rt. 1 (next town up), which is nothing spectacular but may be worth a visit. If bars are your thing then you need to go to Portland and to what is called the Old Port section which has an orgy of bars geared to young people.

If all that fails then you can hang out with mainerunner and me! (LOL)

Old Orchard Beach and Hampton Beach NH are good places . hampton has a good night life with plenty of bars and its not that far of a drive. i'm guessing about a 1/2 hr drive.

I agree with 2WD_NISMO. Up in Portland you should hit up the OldPort for some decent bars. Also Portsmouth,NH. Portsmouth is gonna be a little closer to York though. Have fun.

Also in Portland is a topless donut shop (Platinum Plus) that I keep trying to get the gf to go to with me. Still a no go though.

thank guys for you comments. the donut shop sounds like a place to see for me but my girl will fight me the whole way. i'd rather have a good vacation other than fighting with her over boobs.
the fronty is making the ride now. something is wrong with her car and i got it down to either trans or clogged cat but no time to work on it. so our gas budget had to be raised from 250 to 425. so the fronty is seeing another state its never been to.
but what about good food? i been on a diet for the last 6 months and im going to eat everything i can. besides donuts whats a good place to hit?
how the weather this time a year. i see what the weatherman says but their job is to lie. what is it really like durning the day and night. i know the ocean is cold that why we got a place with 2 pools.

thanks for all your input!!!
