My tailgate experienced the same problem. In my case, it was one of the hinges that was bent. The Stealership gave me some pushback but ultimately replaced the hinge under warranty.

Any company that would design the hinges to hold up to 56 kg is brain-dead. People routinely stand on the open tailgate.

Please explain how you're suppose to get gear out of the tray that is near the cab without climbing over the tailgate and where is the warning on the load restriction????

Pretty much most of the California lifeguards are starting to use frontiers, they routinely have one-two people riding on the open tailgate. I have seen up to 3 full grown men siting on the open tailgate. I wonder if they have had issues, Next time I see a lifeguard in a Frontier I will ask.

That is no good that you have had issues.

next time you are with your truck drop the tailgate down and push the panel the inges are bolted to to see if it flexis in the middle . mine does

Exactly how many pounds is 56KG? I think my 1st gen tailgate can hold more than that...but I only know it in pounds...

I would not resort to lawsuit at the beginning. Ask the Dodo at the dealership, does one step on the bumper to go over the closed tailgate. Is this safe?

My hinges do not flex.

What goes on Down Under is a mystery to me.

Remember this: 2.2 pounds per kilogram; 454 grams per lb.

56 kilos is 123 pounds. The Frontier is designed only for women!

The tailgate on my first gen is able to support around 200 lbs....I transported some furniture back to my place one day and the bulk of a 200 lbs bookcase was basically sitting on my tailgate...

Didn't have any problems...Tailgate and bumper are fine...
