Repaint job by Dealership

For those that have had their vechicles repainted by the dealer for any reason, what has been your experience.

Did the paint match exactly?
Was it about the same quality?
Did the dealer make it look factory?

Because of some issues I had with my factory hood paint job (2008 frontier about 4 weeks old) I'm having a new hood ordered and painted. I'm hoping the dealership doesn't screw the pooch on this.

Also while detailing my truck they got a few hairline scratches and some swirl marks. Needless to say it pissed me off so they are re-polishing the entire vehcile after painting the hood and re-waxing. Right now I'm pretty much debating just asking for a new truck if they blow it after the next try to get it looking like NEW!! Thoughts??????

I first had my fender replaced and repainted (perfect match). Then the whole truck was repainted. It looks factory, but does scratch a little easier. I don't mind though. Id rather have scratches than to keep having paint flake off.

it depends on the shop and what kind of work the management lets them send out the door. Always look at completed work and check with some knowlegable people in the insurance industry. They know the shops that do really good work. We dont always reccommend our dealer body shop, not because they dont do great work, but because they do theyre really buried and cant get work out quickly. So we send to and independant shop that is also really good, and does high end paint and repairs, but not the highend crash rebuilds that we do at the dealer level. So theyre faster especially on what youre looking for, but like I said it depends on the shop.

Thanks for the info guys....The service manager already knows that I will be looking at it with a fine tooth comb....He already knew I was bugged after the got swirl marks on it and the buffing/waxing didn't help. I'll make sure before they take it in that I expect it to look like NEW!!

paint color matched quite well, but I went back 3 times within 1-1/2 years. Now my warranty is up and its still peeling in that area so I gave up. I do have a paintpen from Nissan to fill the small holes.

ALso whether it makes a difference, this was on my LE on the painted front bumper.

Front 1/2 of my Armada was repainted by the delaer after an accident repair. Their paint job was great and matched really nice. My only real complaint was, they had very little orange peel where as the factory paint job has tons. So I have 1/2 a truck that looks really nice and the other 1/2 looks shitty.

It is peeling because they probably didn't add the flex agent to the paint and it's brittle. My wife dented the front bumper on my Pathfinder and the bumper was replaced last year and the paint is perfect.

Since it's so new, you probably haven't received the survey yet. These are more important to them than you would think. Don't throw it away just in case they give you grief. If they take care of you, take care of them on the survey.
