Hey, I don't post much...but figured I'd post my experience with the dealership I deal with....so to start things off...the infamous SES light came on my 06 Nismo at about 41k km's. Went to the dealership to get it checked and it turned out to be code P0442 (faultly VCV). They change the part with a new one and everything is good. WRONG! Not 10 mins driving back home, the SES light comes back on. Call the dealership next day, they say to bring it in first thing the following morning and they will clear the light as the tech forgot to do it. Ok. So I go there the next morning, they clear the SES light, everything seems fine. About 50 km's later, the SES light is back on. Call them up again, they are confused...they talk to the tech that worked on my truck, he said he might have forgotten to clear the computer on the truck cause the code might still be in memory or something. So I have to go once again to get that done. After he clears the computer and the SES light, about another 50 km's later, its back on?!?!?! I'm tripping out with madness at that point. lol. Call them up once again. They said bring it in first thing Monday since it was Saturday when it happened. They check the truck, replace the VCV with another new VCV, and still the light was on. I told then to check further into it, turns out that the canister thing is cracked that has to do with the sensor. So they ordered me a new one to get it replaced next week. Talk about fun to go back and forth to the dealership like that.
Now mind you with all that madness, they were really cool with me and so was I. They seemed very concerned about my truck and my satisfaction. The truck is still under warranty, so I don't have to pay anything...but it still sucks that the tech's didn't just double check their work or follow procedure to debug stuff like that. I mean like sure the computer will throw you a code, you can check and replace parts, but check again once you changed it to make sure everything is working like it should. I'd assume that a good tech would have caught that the first time I went there with the truck by looking at the components that the VCV depended on to work!
Anyways....we'll see what they say/do next week I guess.
PS - Champlain Nissan is in Moncton, New-Brunswick, Canada if some are wondering.
