Scissor Jacks don't work with 6" Lift

I know this is obvious once you think about it, but it did not occur to me until I was on the side of the road with a flat tire. Lucky for me there was an old fence post leaning up next to a building where I pulled over. By putting the jack on top of the 4" x 4" post I was able to get the front wheel high enough to replace it. But only just barely, once I get to the 33" tires a 4" block will not be enough.

Anyway, I figured that I would post a quick thread reminding folks that if you do lift your truck you need to make arrangements for your possible jacking needs. If I'm the only moron that did not think of this, then shame on me

Also wondering what others with lifts have replaced their jacks with, as I am now looking for a better option then the block of wood.

Nope I think youre the only 1 well maybe only the only HONEST 1 Actually I bought my hilift the day after I got stuck the first time since you can also used to not only lift you out in mud with a wide base, but also as a come along.....if theres something to anchor to

mallcrawler LOL.

Harbour freight actually has pneumatically actuated hydraulic bottle jacks. I was looking into one awhile back to use with my OBA for my jacking needs....

obviously...I don't need to pursue that path any further

Thanks, this looks like the right answer. Now of course the question is which one, how big, what accessories, and where does it store.

For me it almost seems like the Cast/Steel is good enough, but that with the all-cast you get the spreading and vehicle recovery options so that may be the way to go. And I assume that 42" is tall enough, is that the consensus? Well, it looks like 4wheelparts.com only offers the 48" and the 60" so I guess its one of those two options.

I'm assuming that this will fit behind the back seat of a CC and that the "Jack Protector" is the best way to store it. Also looks like that "off-road base" is a must have accessory.

Also wondering if this changes the jacking points? Can you still use the rocker panel jack points with this jack? What if you have rails or sliders? If no then I assume you've got to buy the bumper lift accessory too.

get a scrap of 4x4, nail a 2x4 to it and put that under your jack and your done, if you don't wheel, and your not going to use hilift then save your self the money, you don;t have bumpers or sliders you don't realy have a front jacking point for a hilift.

A high lift jack pretty much requires either offroad bumpers or sliders. I don't have either and my stock jack won't lift the front high enough either. Probably I will carry a small base to put the jack on top of
