Scissor Jacks don't work with 6" Lift

I still don't see a hi-lift being stable enought to change a tire. I've seen pics and vids of them being used off road for recovery and moving a rig side to side but I would be cautious.

I'm kinda in the same situation, but I don't have sliders so a hi-lift would be useless to me. they don't make an attachment that would work with pinch welds? I know they have the bumper and wheel attachment, it only makes sense to offer something that attaches to the body of a stock truck with no sliders.

I got this jack...it's a jack stand/jack. ($44 at pepboys, $29.99 at tractor and supply but they were out)


I was going to get an exhaust jack, but I didn't want to pay the extra $20 (ebay price).

Also, when I looked closely at a few pics of the exhaust jacks in action, the bag actually pinched the body of the truck upward toward the door. It is probably because the user placed the bag too close to the outside of the vehicle's frame, but I didn't want to accidentally reproduce the results.

Whoa! I like that! Too bad we don't have a pepboys anywhere around here. Maybe I'll check out advance auto tomorrow if they are open.

that style is used on most tractors, cars and trucks up in to the late 70s

it has been on my mind for quite some time now... i need to keep something that will reach the bottom of the axle tube.
i have the tallest hi-lift they make, and i would not come close to lifting a wheel at the top of that damn thing.

Just get a bottle jack, it goes up to 18 1/2 inches. Works fine for a 9 in lift.

I was going to use this height for the stem, but I couldn't slide it under the frame...it would've gone under the front crossmember though:


Here's the tire just off the ground...good enough for me (even at the lower setting for the stem).


If y'all can't find this jack...I know if you type "ton, jack" into ebay, you'll find a guy who is selling it for $29.99 with very little for shipping.

I just carry a block I cut off the end of a 6x6 post for additional height needed. Besides you don't have to crank as much then. That is a cool jack stand jack though.
