What is the best cleaner to get that nasty mud color off of the underside ???
Aloha all,
Ok, i havent found a good cleaner yet. But the under side of my truck is brown. I dont know how to get it off.. I know that when you sell it the dealer makes it look almost brand new. I am also looking for the best option to clean under my hood... Many thanks!

hey wizard.
for under your truck your gonna need to get yourself a pretty good degreaser. I myself haven't tried anything other than meguiar's all purpose cleaner/degreaser. the stuff is a 20:1 solution and is very potent. or you can try a simple green max stuff they sell in gallon tubs and let it soak for a bit. For under the truck you absolutely need to get a pressure washer. that's how you make it spotless. As far as engine bay: pressure wash (for best results), purple power degreaser / APC+ 10:1 (all purpose cleaner), and a hyper dressing 3:1 Hope that helps. Adam

Wizzard,
In response to your post check out this website. (Tornado Products Co. - St. Albans, WV) Tornado Products - Home This is a product called Tornado and it is sold out of St. Albans, West Virginia. It is a multi-purpose cleaner that you can dilute and is strongly recommended to dilute to 50% tornado and 50% water. Use it in a spray bottle, apply and watch the dirt, grease, and oil run off. It really is a strong cleaner and is well worth looking into. |

I have heard a few times never use a pressure washer on motorcycles, engines and similiar things, the reason being-it forces water into places that water could not normally get...what do you guys think?

a health dose of simple green on a cool engine and washed off ten minutes after it sits does wonders. thats what i do and just rinse it off with a hose.

Also, I never use the pressure washer in the engine bay. The garden hose works just fine, and no direct blasting of electrical items. Wizzard, I'd pressure wash the underside first. Then soak with a basic de-greaser as mentioned above. Pressure wash again. Scrub brush for tough/visible areas. I have a brush I use specifically for wheel wells. To dress the wheel wells I buy the el cheapo tire shine and spray the heck out of them. It's oily so make sure it's mostly dry before hitting the dirt/sand.

Purple power in a foam cannon, let soak for a minute or two, then pressure wash off. Dress all your plastic trim and inner fenders with a non-silicone dressing like Optimum tire shine.
