use a microfiber towel and oops, you can get it at any local autoparts. Clay baring it, or just rubbing them off is going to scratch it up. The oops takes out impurities and softens the tar and allows it to wipe it away. Just spray it onto the truck, its in a lighter fluid looking can. Then just wash the truck good and it will look like new

I doubt if using a claybar properly will cause any scratching. I know from doing my own speckled paint.

yeah, my work is sitting on their thumbs of the subject at the moment. i'm not even sure if they even notified the other vehicle owners yet.

i got the number for a professional detailer i used to work with, and i trust that guy more than anyone else with my paint's finish. i will contact him tomorrow and see what his recommendations are, and see if he can take care of this for me early next week. then i will just send the bill along...

paint overspray on top of clear coat is different than tar on clear coat. I live on a back road that gets tar and chipped every two years. I have learned my lessons. My friends dad works for a detail shop, he actually is the one that recommend doing this for the tar. Not to mention it takes 1/3 of the time over the clay bar method.

an old friend i used to work with who details cars is coming over today to check it out, test a small area and offer recommendations. i will have him write up a quote so i have something to work with come tomorrow.

as of friday, i still have not heard from my company on what they are doing to right this for the affected employees. if they still have nothing for me tomorrow, i will take the tar company's info and attempt to deal with them directly. i dont like being led to believe things are happening while my company drags their feet.

thank you to those who offered your advice. i will let you know what comes of this.

edit: automerge

we tried some meguier's paint cleaner in a few spots and it seems as tho the majority of it will come up with this and a LOT of elbow grease. he said it'll prolly take 2 washes, with paint cleaner after each. then bug and tar remover or wd-40 for the real problem areas, and a nice coat of wax to finish it all off. he said it's good i keep it waxed, or it would have really adhered and been a PITA to get off.

he's writing me up a quote to take in. should be an interesting week.
