Tar Overspray

I am livid right now. I went out to my truck to get something and noticed that they re-sprayed a portion of the parking lot directly on the other side of an island from where I parked at work. Well, it's a freakin windy day, so I checked it out...tar overspray all over my truck. hood, headlights, grille, bumper, side mirrors, windshield, roof, doors....it's everywhere. small droplets covering basically every square inch of the truck (and probably the other 30 cars near me too).

Now, they're in the middle of a load of construction that included expanding a portion of the parking lot near where they just re-sprayed as well as the digging for the foundation for a new extension going in now. There was no prior warning from building services that they were going to re-spray again today. In fact, they sprayed it last week (i parked away then cuz i saw the sprayer truck in our parking lot) and painted the lines over the weekend. For some strange reason, they re-sprayed over the freshly lined area today.

Back on topic, I don't have the time to wash the truck. A) school and work are killing me B) with all the damn construction and dust, it hasnt been worth it. I have class tonight until 8, so I can't even wash it until tomorrow evening at the earliest.

Right now, I can run my finger along the paint and the drops come up (they are dry). So, questions:

1. how much am i hurting to wait until tomorrow to wash?
2. is there special instructions i should follow? i have a microfiber sponge, that i will likely have to rinse each time it touches the paint.

HELP!!!

i talked to my boss about it. then we sent a carefully worded email to the building maintenance supervisor. haven't heard back from him yet. i know there's prolly 30 cars affected (didnt look when i was out there-i was too pissed about my truck).

i'm gonna try cleaning it myself first, but if it doesnt come out to my satisfaction, i'm gonna make sure it gets done professionally and that the spray co. gets the bill.

yeah, i havent bothered washing the truck since they started construction (about 6 weeks ago). too dusty!

talked to the plant supervisor, who had called the tar co., so everyone is now aware of the issue. they counted cars, it seems that only 9 or 10 got sprayed (still more than should have).

they say it might require buffing to get everything out 100%. that means a free detailing for me! which still sux, cuz i did that myself the first week of september and didnt wanna hafta deal with it again til it was warm. but, if its on someone elses dime...

we'll see. the general contractor doesnt come back to the site until 5, so i wont hear anything until tomorrow. so here i am playing the waiting game.

Take PICS before you clean it. Otherwise they wont pay you.

Just like everyone says on this forum, No Pic, No Happen.

yeah. pics are tough cuz its a fine spray. i was out there with the plant manager for my building and one of the lower managers for the project, so i have witnesses to the tar. i tried taking some pics, but the sun was too bright and such. i will try again before i leave for the day.

I got hit by a crew doing road tar once. I just approached them politely and pointed out what they had done. The guy gave me a card to have the bill sent to thier company to take care of the damage. Give them a chance to make good on their mistake.
