Lazy man's detailing

I truly am lazy, and despite all my best intentions, will not spend a lot of time working on my truck (and its black too).

What one product would anyone reccomend to use, where I probably would only do one application a few times a year? I'm more interesed in protecting paint than making it look awesome.

thanks for your input.

I use mud. Protects the paint and covers up any unsightly surface blemishes that may exist. It's super cheap and can be applied in a matter of seconds with only a brief amount of pressure placed directly on the little skinny pedal on the right!!

And in the opinons of some, it does make it "look awesome"

"Lazy man's detailing." That's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.

If you just want an easy way to protect paint, then I recommend NuFinish liquid sealant. You can also use this to wax your wheels, as it withstands high heat - makes your wheles a lot easier to clean. Goes on and off real easy.

I use Meguiars Next Gen Wax
Goes on easy and comes of even easier. You can leave it on the truck overnight and take it off in the morning.
I just take thew truck to the carwash and use the high pressure washer to get most of the crap off. I even use it on my wheels and the brake dust comes straight off too.
Quick touch up with Quick Detailer and the truck looks great. Oh yeah mines Black as well

Your talking about NU Finish in the orange bottle right

I used that crap once and only once in the trash it went. Its like white and not ment for clear coats. Go to meguires watch his videos, products that claim to last protect and polish in one step avoid! If you like the product go for it but i wouldnt put than on a schwinn. Meguires Nxt wax is great for new trucks and can be found at walmart. There are other good products but i want to keep it simple. I remmember the commercial watch as nu finish restores this faded old car lol. Have you tried meguires proffesional auto finish? Like my darker colored cars id hit them with pure polish then glasse then wax. I found though if i polish to much the clear coat looses that sharpness like a new car.

If your not that worried then you should use a cleaner wax. Mothers is pretty good brand but just about any will do since you are not that concerned. It cleans and waxes all in one. You should always clean the paint before you wax otherwise you are waxing in dirt and once it is there it is hard to remove.
