Question I think I might of destroyed my seat.

Well I have a question about our seats. I got into my truck leaving my gf's house and I managed to dump half of a Amp energy drink all over my passenger seat. I have gone 36k miles keeping my seats and interior (except for plastic) pristine. Now my seat looks horrible and I know it will stain.

To the question. Is there anyway to take off the fabric to throw it in the washing machine to clean it? If it is feasible what would be the best product to clean it? I refuse to do the car wash carpet shampoo'er because I have seen the damage that can do but I can not afford to take it to a pro detailer to have it taken care of. Thanks for any help in advance.

Seat Shampoo

I personally would not try to take your seat off and throw it in the washing machine, first of all they don't just slide off the seat frame and secondly even if they did , they'd never go back on like they should or look correct after washing / drying.

That being said......I shampoo interiors all the time ! I ofcourse use professional quality shampoo and and an extractor....but for the average person to shampoo your seat is easy as pie.

1. Dampen your seat to be cleaned with enough water to allow shampoo to lather ( you'll have to be the judge )

2. Use any carpet shampoo or use Simple green and the like and a stiff brush to scrub the stained area. Scrub back and forth fairly vigoriously.

3. Vacuum excess water and shampoo off of seat with a wet/dry vacuum.

4. Crack your windows, so that the damp seat (s) / interior can dry completely with out mold setting up in the truck having the windows closed.

You can hasten the drying process with leaving all windows down, setting several fans up to run through the interior, etc.

thats it .....

My 4400+ Cars have been shampooed that way

My 4400+ Cars have been shampooed that way, so there's no way ( unless you do it wrong ) that it won't work for you.

Usually for leather getting the drink stain is nomally easier , because it's normally just a wipe off with a cleaner, but in rare circumstances, a heat gun and a solvent must be used. A redye of the leather itself is the last resort.
