How to remove minor scratches?

This morning I noticed that I have these scratches on the front fender and hood of my truck, it looks like a cat or something tried to jump on my truck and that is what caused the scratches. What do you guys think is best thing to use, to try to remove these scratches? The scratches do not appear to be deep ,but now that I know they are there I have to do something about it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Will

Start with something light like scratch-ex. If it is cat paws, that is possibly residue from the nails, and not a true scratch. Any 'polish' (one containing abrasives) should be a last resort, after you try out some good cleaners.
