This is what I do...

1)Wet truck down and get off all loose dirt
2)I start cleaning inside all of the door jams, engine bay, etc.
3)I scrub the tires down so later I can put some shine on them
4)I wash the exterior of the truck. (I only use the "grout sponge(sp?)" that you do tile work with. They dont leave as much swirls, etc. in the paint...
5)I use a shamie to dry.
6)Once dry I will use a detailing spray so get it slick (I clay bar the truck about twice a year)
7)I shine the tires
I take the samie and rinse it out well and then I clean the inside off all windows.
9)rinse the shamie out once more and make sure its almost dry and then I clean the inside of the door jams, engine bay, etc. where I cleaned earlier just to make sure all the residue is gone.
10)If needed I will use back to black on surfaces, detail the dash, vacumm, etc.

It takes me a good 1-2 hours doing a full detail. I always make her happy by keeping her clean and ordering lots of new parts for her so she wont ever decide to turn against me.

Machine buff those swirl marks out using compound, glaze and then polish.

Alrighty then...I guess I might as well tell my method as well!

1: I rinse of the truck EVERYWHERE to get off all the pollen/dust
2: I mix about 3 capfulls of Armor-All Wash&Wax into a bucket of water and soap her down.
3: I wash one section at a time so the soap doesn't dry on the paint, then rinse the section immediately afterward.
4: Once done, I do another full rinse to get off any remaining soap.
5: Then, with the truck still wet, I begin to scrub the tires and spray the rims with Meguiars Hot Rims wheel cleaner
6: I do one final rinse to get the grime off the wheels
7: I pull the truck into the shade and begin getting the bulk of the water off with the Cali-Blade
8: I dry off the remaining water with a shamois
9: Once dry, I use Invisible Glass auto glass cleaner to keep the windsheild and windows looking crystal clear
10: I then proceed to "wax" the truck with Nu-Finish Car Polish. It leaves the best shine and requires the least amount of rubbing.
11: Once waxed, I grab some Vinylex and keep my black fenders and bumpers from fading and keep them looking good.
12: I then take Armor-All's Xtreme Tire Black GEL and apply it to the tires, if needed. (It usually lasts a long time)
13: I then use Mother's Steel and Mag Polish to make the crome and metal look REALLY shiney.
14: And last but not least, I grab a camera and capture the moment, before the rain takes it away!!!!

And that's just the EXTERIOR! Just wait till you hear about my procedure for the interior!!

Why did you ask the question, if you already had your own answer ?

Why did you originally ask the question, if you already had your own answer ? Must have been something involving a pulling method along with a chain ! lol

Everybody has their own unique way of taking care of their truck. I just want to know what everybody's secret is....after all, there may be a product out there that just makes all the others look terrible....This thread is how I found out about the Cali-blade!

So you see, there is plenty of info to pull from this thread that is useful. It's not just me that reads this thread...Lots of people that want to know how to take care of their truck are going to read this thread. The more ways to wash that are listed, the more info a person can snag from this thread...I made the thread for all to use, not just me.....

I gotta get me one of those Cali-blades now! Drying is a BIATCH on my truck with the fiberglass bed cover and everything...

Drying can be made easier based on how you rinse your truck. If you blast the soap off with high pressure, you will have more water to dry off. If you use low pressure and let the soap run off, you will have less water left behind to dry. Try it the next time you wash your truck. I use one of these nozzles.

You should wash the truck in the shade. Hot paint does not need cold water. The paint should be warm to the touch before you wash it. I wash my tires and wheels before starting on the truck. I use wheel cleaner on the alloys and Westley's on the tires if they need it. I haven't had to use any Westley's in more than a year because my tires stay fairly clean using 303 Aerospace protectant.

Do you clean the interior? etc????? These are just some of the things to talk about!
