NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, take rubbing compound to a black finish (or any finish for that matter)!!!

If you need something that requires aggressive scratch/swirl remover, you need a 3-4 step process by machine. At this point, I suggest seeking a professional detailer. You'll be kicking yourself if you try it with no experience. You'll really be kicking yourself if you use RUBBING COMPOUND on a black finish

I compound black vehicles all the time , in fact I specialize in detailing Black vehicles. Definately have a true professional, buff your vehicle, most "detailer's" however , don't know how to buff black, without swirling or striping the paint. 3M "perfect it II" works well followed by "3M speed glaze" for dark colored paints, followed by "3M Perfect it" show car polish

here's one of my clients vehicles

correct, this avoids the "spiderweb" swirls. Also i recommend Zymol black wax. It is pretty pricey, about 60 dollars a jar, but it works really well. It's a black paste that you have to apply with gloves, if not it'll stain your hands. It is easy to apply and buff off. Good luck.

For black paint polishing tips

Go to Autopia.org - The Car Detailing & Appearance Authority for All Car Enthusiasts. the most informative detailing site on the web, very addictive too, I hang out there a lot. My black truck looks much better, IMHO.

I gotta take mine to a wash...that dirt ain't going away by itself. After the NFC play-offs, I took my Seahawks magnet off the tailgate, but I can still see the outline.

I use whatever soap I have, usually Blue Coral cause I get it from my work. For wax I've fell in love with Mother's Carnuba Cleaner Wax, it's very easy to use, goes on easy and comes off easy, along with Mother's Showtime Spray Detailer. For the tires I really like Black Magic Tire Wet, it gives me the shine on the tires that I love. Interior I use whatever I have, usually ends up being Armor All Original Shine, cause I've got a lot of it. If I decide to shine my rims, I have the stock SE wheels, I use Mother's Power Metal Polish. Every thing I use I absolutely love, and from the reflection in my picture, you can see my neighbors house pretty clearly, the work very well.

Definately do not use Zymol black wax, unless you want a temporary fix. It has Black dye in it , that only lasts a little while. Have a professional detailer restore your paint !.

Autopia is not the fixall to detailing stuff that 06 cajun frontier likes to post.

I've detailed for over 15 years and 4400+ cars and am a black car detailing specialist. Black cars are realitively easy to keep black and shiny , with just a few extra steps over detailing any other color.
