Buffin' out the hood

Well I took my truck to the dealer today to show them the "ripples/marks" on my hood. The Service Manager said from the looks of it, it's may be the way they waxed the truck before I bought it. He said by the way it's casting shadows and the smoothness of the hood that was his best guess. Sooooooooo they offered to try and buff it out. He said after that is done then we can go from there.....I'm hoping they don't have to paint it again, but ya never know.

Hopefully now that they buff it out they don't mess anything else up...Is there anything I should look for/request before they perform the job. What about afterwards??

Thoughts??

sounds like when the insurance agent told me that they could just buff out my hood...

luckily he was kidding...

Id take it to a paint/body shop and get their opinion and then take that to the dealer..

Well theres nothing wrong with having a professional opinion before getting your truck messed up even more by the stealership. Also, try getting what the Paint/Body place has to say in written/typed form. So the dealer cant say you are BS'ing.

Buffing out... Imagine the Service writter walking out to tell a tech (who has never used a buffer) to 'buff' your hood out. Hell it would scare me. I would rather pay someone who k nows what they are doing to fix it. Cause paint is DEF not my forte

before i purchased my truck i noticed some scratches, later that night they were gone. i eventually saw my truck during the day after i bought it and you could tell that they buffed the hell out of my paint, looks like it went through the clear coat. id never let them buff anything again.

Post a good good picture of your hood..

If it was my truck with 20 miles on it, I would have two or three autobody shops look at it and give estimates. Your only question should be: What is it going to take to make my hood look brand new and factory fresh? Then take your findings to your dealer, and demand that they fix hood, and stop blowing smoke up your arse....
