I went mudding once and spent at least an hour pressure washing the underbody of the truck the best I could and it took off most of the dirt clumps where the long nozzle could aim. My engine bay wasn't that bad at all, I just wiped it down with a wet cloth.

i took it through the car wash. i got the deluxe one best you can get there it was 8 dollars.... i havent looked under the truck, but the outside of the truck still has mud all over it... it got about half the damn mud off. so im feeling a little better today im going to just wash the rest of it myself. thats really the only way to get it done right. all that car was did was make it a little easier on me lol.

Hmm yea.. I am not sure there is a "better" way to get rid of all that mud. The garden hose and a spray nozzle seem to be the best thing I have come across. The simple green + garden hose on the engine works very well.

After Broken Arrow, broncodude and I spent some ridiculous amount of money at a self serve car wash, and then we went home and continued to use his pressure washer. Took us like 4 hours.

I didn't have ANY mud after that run. Primarily because all the way back to PHX is rained like there was no tomorrow. Some parts of I-17 had like 3 inches of standing water... So, I guess we have found a better way. Drive down a rain soaked highway for 2 hours in continous rain...

Spray your truck with WD40 before you go mudding and it should be easier to clean when you're done. Keep in mind that if you spray parts that get hot like the exhaust manifold it will smoke up.

Maybe this is just because I live in Florida where it rains every other day, but after I've been offroading in the mud for a while, the best way for me to get the undermud off is to drive really fast through a deep puddle in the road. There are a lot of those back where I roll. After that, then all i ever have to do is go under with a chamois and whipe off the little bit that remains. I usually will have little to no mud left underneath after that. It takes only about 20 minutes to get the rest of the crap off after the splashing.

The oscilating sprinkler idea sounds like it would work, but because of the height the truck is and the speed at which the sprinkler sways, it sounds like it would take FOREVER! If you're looking for a quick fix, try my philosophy......

Be warned though. DO NOT ATTEMPT WITH BARE TIRES! Unless you have at least fairly good tread, you WILL hydroplane. Be careful.

Florida, even in a drought, still gets rain at least two to three times a week for full days...but don't waste the water with the sprinkler if you dont have to...
